Today has been full of emotions for me. Heavyhearted, to say the least. Today would have been Biff's 75th birthday. Biff was a dad to me. It's hard to put into words, but he was really more than that to me. He cared for me like I was never cared for before. The unconditional love that poured out from him made me feel so special and like I was really worth something important. He was very dear to my heart. He took his life on December 6, 2015. I can share more about him another time, but he's forever in my heart and today it is breaking. Although, I do want to celebrate him and what he meant to me. Cheers to you, Daddy Biff. I miss you and love you so much.
On another note, two days ago a horrible tragedy occurred in Couer d'Alene, Idaho where I live. Very close to my home in the Canfield mountain a fire was deliberately set by a young man who ambushed fire fighters, shooting them and causing a very traumatic event. Two firefighters lost their lives in the line of duty and one was severely injured. It boggles my mind that someone could have that much hate within them to do such an unimaginable thing. Today, I witnessed the procession of the two firefighters as they took their bodies to the funeral home. It was devastating to watch. However, so see our community come together to show their support was very impressive. That needs to happen more often, like we don't need to all share the same interests, politics, religion, etc, but we can treat each other as human beings that have feelings. We have so much hate in our world and so much negativity. We forget that we all bleed the same blood, breathe the same air, all go through devastation in our lives. Let this be our reminder that we can go through our day without being hurtful toward others. We can be kind to strangers and teach our children to do the same. I want to leave a legacy to my girls showing that I cared for other people no matter who they are. A legacy of kindness, a legacy of giving and grace.
As our community is grieving, let's show kindness and grace to the people around us. Check on your neighbors. Text your friends and family.
I love you all!
Wishing you well!
